‘Digital World-2015’ to begin Feb 9

DHAKA: A 4-day international event on Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) titled ‘Digital World 2015’ is set to begin at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital from February 9.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the show.

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu told the reporters at a press conference at Press Information Department in the city on Monday.

ICT state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) president Shamim Ahsan, among others, were also present at the conference.

However, the ‘Digital World’ will jointly be organized by ICT Division and BASIS.

Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS), Association of Mobile Telecom Operators (AMTOB), Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB), Bangladesh Association of Call Center and Outsourcing (BACCO), Bangladesh ICT Journalist Forum (BIJF), Bangladesh Women in IT (BWIT) and Chief Technology O¬fficers (CTO) Forum are also associated with Access to Information (a2i) program of Prime Minister’s Office and BASIS for making the program a success.

The information minister said that 81 IT professionals from 19 countries will attend this year’s event.

According to him, the exclusive part of the fair will be a ministerial conference, to be attended by a good number of ministers from several countries.

BASIS president Shamim Ahsan said Prime Minister's ICT adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and also her son, will conduct several sessions of the fair.

Moreover, this year’s event will include programs like world soft expo, e-governance expo, e-commerce expo, mobile innovation expo, business process management conference, IT job fair, CEO night and award night etc.
