Sony Xperia Z4 specifications, features leaked

DHAKA: Sony Xperia Z3 is less than two months old, but it seems that the Japanese manufacturer won't take long to launch its next top-end smartphone.

According to a report by technology website AndroidOrigin, Sony Xperia Z4 is said to sport a 5.5-inch screen with a QHD 2560 x 1440 resolution. It will be powered by Qualcomm 2.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 810 CPU, designed on 64-bit chipset architecture. The report did not mention the Android version of Xperia Z4, but it is likely to be Android 5.0 (Lollipop).

Both RAM and internal storage will get an upgrade compared to the current Xperia flagships; therefore, Xperia Z4 will have 4GB RAM and 32GB built-in storage. Reportedly, it will also have a better sound quality with an improved amplifier.

The camera is said to be have the same resolution (20.7MP) as Xperia Z3, with an upgrade in the sensor from IMX220 to a curved Exmor RS CMOS. Xperia Z4 will be the first Sony smartphone to have LTE Cat.6 connectivity and Bluetooth 4.1.

The report also says that Sony will quit releasing the flagship devices bi-annually with the launch of Xperia Z4. According to the report, "A major reason could be the fact that flagship devices have reached a sort of saturation point and there aren't any huge advancements that can be made in a six-month period."

This pattern started in 2013, when Sony released Xperia Z1 in September, just six months after launching Xperia Z in February. This was followed by the launch of Xperia Z2 in January this year and Xperia Z3 in September.
