Indian cricket jet flying on Purjara and Kohli wings on Friday crash landed in the morning session of Saturday morning at Headingly being caught up by a tornado unleashed by English pacers.
Robinson and Overton combined sweetly with bright red cherry triggering yet another batting collapse of India in the test. Losing 8 wickets for the addition of 63 India succumbed to an innings defeat. The 5 matches series is now locked 1-1 after the 3rd match. The test series has already witnessed unbelievable fairy tale dramas. We are sure billions across the world would watch the remaining two.
The tensions, excitements, dramas were all there. The three days and a session of the test have been all played in unique fashion. India was rattled on day on getting wrapped up for 78 from a unique start by past master James Anderson. Joe Root masterminded a massive England innings on day taking the home team way above the sky. Trailing by 354 India batted bravely on day three with Pujara and Kohli showing ray of lights at the end of tunnel. But on the morning day four English pacers made Indian batting crumbling like cookies. It was always an extremely difficult task for a team turning around after a poor first innings and specially after conceding a huge lead. Yet knowing the resilience of Indian cricket and watching Pujara and Kohli applying them on day three there were some thoughts of drama unfolding. But history does not always repeat.
The day started with Andesron and Robinson starting tight with new cherry. Pujara was trapped right in front by a sharp in dipper of Robinson before he could even add to his overnight tally (91). From then on India started crumbling. Kohli too did not last long removed by Robinson yet again for 55. There after it was one-way traffic. Late middle order including Pant and Rahane were blown away in tidal surge. Only Jadjea (30) tried to resist. India could reach as far as 278 conceding defeat by an innings and 76 runs. It was a wonderful exhibition of seam and swing bowling by relatively new English pace duo Ollie Robinson (5/65) and Craig Overton (3/47). The series is now locked 1-1. The stage is now set for a mouth-watering contest over the next two tests. What a dramatic turn around it was for English Lions after losing the Lords test on the last day.
