DHAKA: Host India scored a mammoth 356-run losing only three wickets at the end of the first day’s play of the lone test match against Bangladesh at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad Thursday (February 9).

Opener Murali Vijay scored his ninth hundred (108) before returning to pavilion while Cheteshwar Pujara made 83-run.

Currently, India’s skipper Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahana, who was chosen over the triple centurion Karun Nair, are in the crease with 111 and 45 runs respectively.

Taskin Ahmed, Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam took one wicket each.

But the visitors started the day brilliantly when Lokesh Rahul was played on in the first over of the match in the bowling of pace man Taskin Ahmed after Kohli chose to bat.

New-ball bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Kamrul Islam Rabbi did a fabulous job in the first hour of the day but it was has been struck down from the scorecard as the day wore on.

There were a few edges that teased Bangladesh in the slips, two off Mehedi Hasan in the same over, then a dreadful run-out chance that was missed in the 19th over.

The visitors, however, will want a change of fortune in the second day.
