Shashank elected as ICC chairman

DHAKA: Former Indian cricket board president Shashank Manohar has been elected as independent chairman of International Cricket Council (ICC) for two-year term.

ICC made the declaration on Thursday (May 12) a day after Shashanka stepped down from his post with BCCI.

Earlier on Wednesday (May 11) tendered in his resignation from the BCCI president’s post, a move that will facilitate his candidature for ICC chairman’s post.

Manohar’s resignation leaves Anurag Thakur, the current BCCI secretary, and Gokaraju Gangaraju, vice-president, as front runners for the role of BCCI president.
