Bangladesh whitewash Zimbabwe

DHAKA: Immediately after the Test series against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh have again whitewashed the visitors in the 5-match Bashundhara Cement ODI series in capital’s Mirpur on Monday.

Tigers win the consecutive fifth and final match against Zimbabwe by five wickets at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in the evening.

Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina encouraged Bangladesh National Cricket team from the stadium and later distributed prizes.

Hosts scored 130-run for five while chasing an easy 129-run target set by Zimbabwe.

Mahmudullah took the responsible 51-run though the top order batsmen failed.

TL Chatara took three wickets while Panyangara picked up two wickets.

Earlier in the day, winning the toss, Zimbabwe chose to bat first.

Taijul Islam's hat-trick, the first by an ODI debutant, spun Zimbabwe out for 128 in 30-over.

Masakadza, Sibanda scored 52 and 37 runs respectively while Taijul bagged four and Shakib took three wickets.

Taijul Islam was adjudged the Player of the Match and Mushfiqur Rahim as Player of the Series.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the medals and trophies to the players.

Earlier, Bangladesh also whitewashed Zimbabwe in the 3-match Bashundhara Cement Test Series on November 16.
