Tamim helps Bangladesh score 193/3

KHULNA: Tamim Iqbal’s 74 not out helped Bangladesh score 193 run for 3 after 90-over at stumps on Day-1 of the second Test against Zimbabwe in Khulna Monday.

Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan will resume the innings on Tuesday with 74 and 13 runs respectively.

According to espncricinfo.com, a strike-rate of 29.58 is not often associated with Tamim; none of his previous 20 fifty-plus scores have been that slow. He tried hard not to be sucked into expansive drives and a majority of his runs came when the bowlers were frustrated into bowling too straight at him. He collected 72 runs for the second wicket with Mominul Haque and is laying the groundwork for another stubborn partnership with Mahmudullah.

Before going back to the pavilion, Mahmudullah scored 56 runs and Mominul Haque 35.

Zimbabwean bowlers Panyangara bagged 2 wickets and Chigumbura got one.

Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim earlier won the toss and decided to bat first.

On October 27, Bangladesh won the first Test match by three wickets at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.
