DHAKA: Netherlands have maintained their perfect start at the World Cup after edging out Australia 3-2 in a pulsating encounter in Porto Alegre.

Oranje forward Arjen Robben opened the scoring after 20 minutes with a superb run from the halfway line, before Tim Cahill equalised within a minute.

Australia captain Mile Jedinak then converted a second-half penalty after a Netherlands handball, before the European nation took the lead with strikes from Robin van Persie and Memphis Depay.
