Good Luck Bangladesh

Good Luck Bangladesh

Obviously a win against United Arab Emirates (UAE) is not significant. But, a victory against Ireland was not less significant.

Have gone the days much earlier that Bangladesh will celebrate a triumph against UAE or Ireland. But, the win against UAE in practice match of T-20 World Cup is now in consideration as it came when a much expected success was needed for Team-Tigers.

The much wanted win was needed for consecutive defeats in the recent time.

Bangladesh had lost to Sri Lanka in three-match ODI series despite reaching close to win on couple of occasions.

Then the shocking Asia Cup.

Here again Bangladesh had chances to have the last smile against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. A win against India was also not impossible.

Reality is that on all the occasions Bangladesh lost to three giants.

But, the worst part of the tournament was that Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh and they are the opponents of Team-Tigers in T-20 World Cup opener.

There are disputes that whether the Bangladesh-Afghanistan match is a real inaugural encounter of the World Cup or not as in reality the first round is a selection session.

There is no other example that a host country of a world cup go through a qualifying round in the name of ranking. Just remember that Japan was named as a host country and thus a participant before they could qualify for a Football  World Cup.

But, in case of cricket and in case of Bangladesh, the host country will have to play the qualifying round which is dubbed as a failure of the organisers, particularly the responsibility goes to the BCB.

Anyway, now the debate is useless and the World Cup is here.

And before stepping into the green of Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, the red-green Bangladesh had needed one or two wins that they got in the practice matches in Fatullah.

Thus the insignificant win against UAE was significant to overcome the drought. Then the convincing victory against Ireland came as a booster for confidence.

Bangladesh had needed a win and confidence that the Tigers got before taking on Afghanistan.

The Team Bangladesh have to remember that they are now on spree of win. Their confidence and motivational level should also be on the right track after the superb performance against Ireland.

Yes, they know that the Afghans in the last encounter gave us shame. But, it was an upset and an upset does not take place everyday.

The Tigers themselves were very close to make upsets on both the occasions they played T-20 against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh lost both the matches in the very last ball.

Despite the couple of defeats, Bangladesh can understand their capacity from the performance against the Lankans in T-20 series.

Still, the World Cup is a new tournament. The first encounter is a new game. It is a new day. But, there is no reason that Bangladesh will not play the main World Cup which begins through the Super-10.
