BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu today said the recent London meeting between Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has given the nation hope that democracy is back on track.
Speaking at a discussion at the National Press Club, Dudu said the meeting has elevated the democratic movement and brought relief to pro-democracy forces in the country.
The meeting “historic” and praised both Yunus and Tarique, saying it would be remembered in Bangladesh’s political history, he added.
Dudu also criticized the past 15 years of governance under Sheikh Hasina, alleging voter suppression and election rigging, and warned against the role of neighbouring India, calling it a threat to Bangladesh’s democratic future.
