BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has extended Eid-ul-Azha greetings to the nation, her personal physician Dr AZM Zahid Hossain said on Friday night.

He said Khaleda, the former prime minister, wishes a joyful Eid for all and would feel her own Eid is meaningful only if the people can celebrate it with happiness.

Dr Zahid, also a BNP standing committee member, said Khaleda remains deeply concerned about the wellbeing of ordinary citizens during Eid.

Her health condition is now stable and under constant medical supervision, he added.

Khaleda will observe Eid at her Gulshan residence “Firoza,” where two sacrificial animals will be slaughtered in her and her son Tarique Rahman’s names. Another animal will be sacrificed in Bogura’s Gabtoli in the name of the Zia family.

She is expected to spend Eid day with close relatives and later exchange greetings with BNP leaders including Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

On Friday, Khaleda spoke with her son Tarique, daughter-in-law Zubaida, granddaughter Zaima, and another daughter-in-law Sharmila Rahman, who celebrated Eid a day earlier in London.
