Top leaders from eight political parties and organisations are set to hold a crucial meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Sunday (May 25) evening amid rising political tensions and ongoing discussions over his possible resignation.
The meeting will take place at the Chief Adviser’s official residence and office, Jamuna, with participation from Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Gono Odhikar Parishad, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Khelafat Majlish, and Nezame Islami Party.
According to a press release issued by Islami Andolan, the meeting is scheduled for 5:45 pm.
Their party chief and Charmonai Pir, Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, will attend as their representative. Other party leaders will also join the talks.
Key agenda items include the framework of the interim government, the upcoming national election, and proposals to try individuals linked to authoritarian practices under Sheikh Hasina’s rule.
Earlier on Saturday (May 24), delegations from BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizen Party (NCP) also met with the Chief Adviser at Jamuna as part of a series of ongoing consultations.
