Mirza Abbas, BNP standing committee member was shown arrested on Thursday (February 1) in nine cases filed with Paltan and Ramna model police stations over political violence in Dhaka on October 28 last year.

Of the cases, five was filed with Paltan Model Police Station while four with Ramna Model Police Station.

Two Dhaka courts passed the order in this regard after Abbas’s lawyer Mohi Uddin Chowdhury submitted nine separate petitions.

Earlie , a total of 11 cases were filed against Abbas following the chaotic situation that unfolded on October 28, 2023. 

He was detained on October 31 from his Shahjahanpur home and shown arrested in a case filed under sabotage and explosives substances act with capital's Shahjahanpur police station.

But he is yet to be shown arrested in total 10 cases, of which five were filed with Paltan Police Station, four with Ramna Police Station and one with Railway Police Station.
