Police ready to arrest accused if joins BNP procession: DMP

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner (Crime) Liton Kumar Saha on Saturday (January 27) said police have taken all measures to arrest warranted accused if any of them will join BNP’s black flag procession.

He disclosed the information in response to a question from journalists at the DMP media center this noon.

“Today BNP has a program, we have extensive preparation to arrest any accused who comes under warrant,” he said.

In response to another question, he said, “Political parties are always carrying out their programs. We are not obstructing any political program.”

BNP Chairperson’s press wing Shamsuddin Didar said, “BNP will hold a black flag procession at 2 pm in the capital demanding party’s Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s release and cancelation of current parliament.”

The procession will start from BNP’s central office at Nayapaltan and will end at Mogbazar intersection via Kakrail and Malibag intersections, said Didar.

He also informed that BNP national standing committee members, senior leaders and all levels of central and various allied organizations will participate in the procession.

On the other hand, the ruling party has also announced to hold peace and democracy rally this afternoon. 

Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League office secretary Riaz Uddin Riaz confirming the matter said they will hold a peace and democracy rally at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital at 3 pm.
