A Bandarban court has sentenced one man to life imprisonment and fined Tk 10 thousand in a drug case Wednesday (Sep 14) afternoon.

The detainee was identified as Ziaul Haque Zia (27). He was Son of Badsha Mia of Ghonarpara, Ward No. 5, Ghumdhum Union No. 3, Naikshyachhari Upazila, Bandarban District.

District and Sessions Judge of Bandarban Fazle Elahi Bhuiyan has passed this verdict.

The administrative officer in charge of the district and session judge court Kamrul Hasan confirmed the matter. 

He said that on December 14, 2020, police arrested Zia along with 48,750 pieces of Yaba tablets. In that incident, the Deputy Inspector (SI) of Ghumdhum Police Investigation Center Mukhleshur Rahman filed a case against Zia at Naikshyongchari Police Station as the plaintiff. 

After investigating the case, the police filed a charge sheet in the court accusing Zia on May 26, 2021, Kamrul said.

Following the incident, the court passed this verdict today after taking the testimony of 10 witnesses and examining one innocent witness in the case.
