The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 65 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital city over the past 24 hours till 6:00 am Tuesday (Aug 9).

Detectives and the law enforcers jointly made the arrest and seized illegal drugs from their possession.

The DMP seized 31,149 pieces of Yaba tablets, 53.41kg 25 puria of hemp, 35gm 15 puria of heroin, 5 bottles of phensedyl, 18 injectable drugs, and 100 bottles of local wine and 30 bottles of foreign wine from their possessions, a DMP statement said.

Being informed, members of Detectives and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a 24-hour long raid and detained the drug trades from various places, it also said. 

According to the statement, a total of 43 cases have been filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act.
