Five people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur on Saturday (July 30) night.

The deceased were identified as auto-rickshaw driver Nazrul Islam (34), of Sheikh Bari village of Tangail's Bhuapur, Mehedi (30), of Angarpara village of Sadar police station of Barguna district and Atiqul Islam (35), of Hijaltali village of Kaliakair in Gazipur. 

However, the identities of the remaining two victims, were yet to be determined.

Kaliakair thana inspector (investigation) Md Abul Bashar, “A Chandra bound bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Battala area of Kaliakair upazila. Two people were killed on the spot and three others died after being taken to the hospital.”

“The legal process in this regard is underway,” he added.
