Rail communications of Dhaka with Rajshahi were restored on Saturday morning after around 11 hours of suspension following the derailment of a train in Gazipur on Friday night, officials said.

SI Shahidullah Hero of Joydebpur Railway Junction Police Camp said that two bogies of Dhaka-bound Panchagah Express train veered off the track near Mouchak Rail Station in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur around 10.15pm, snapping services.

However, no casualties were reported.

The derailment had halted rail link between Dhaka and Rajshahi and north-western parts of the country, railway sources said.

Later a relief train from Dhaka was sent to the spot.

Train services on the routes resumed around 9.30am on Saturday, the railway official said.
