Ex-Health DG secures permanent bail

A Dhaka court on Sunday (Jan 23) granted permanent bail to former director-general of the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) Abul Kalam Azad in a graft case.

Dhaka Senior Special Judge's Court Judge KM Emrul Kayesh passed the order after hearing the bail petition filed by Azad's lawyer.

Julfiker Ali, an official of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), confirmed the matter.

On September 29, last year, the case investigation officer Farid Ahmed Patowari, deputy director of ACC submitted the chargesheet of the case against Azad and five others.

Five other accused are - Regent Hospital chairman Shahed Karim, former director (Hospitals and Clinics) Dr Aminul Hasan; Deputy Director (Hospital-1) Dr Md Younus Ali; Assistant Director (Hospital-1) Dr Md Shafiur Rahman and Research Officer Dr Md Didarul Islam.
