A Cumilla court on Saturday put four persons, including the key suspect Iqbal Hossain, who kept the Holy Quran at Nanua Dighir Par Puja Mandap in Cumilla city on October 13, on seven days remand in a case.

Judge of Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Cumilla Mithila Jahan Mita issued the order after police had produced them before the court with remand petition this noon.

Three other accused are Humayun Kabir, assistant Khadem of Darogabari Mazar, Foysal Ahmed and Ikram Hossain, who called 999 after the incident.

Regarding the incident, ASP Tanvir Hossain said since there are many issues involved, it is not yet clear who persuaded them to do so.

The four persons were shown arrested in the case filed for hurting the religious sentiment, he added.
