A member of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) was shot dead by his state-issued gun at Sadar upazila in Mymensingh district on Friday night.
Deceased was identified as Sohrab Hossain Chowdhury, 23, the son of Anwar Hossen Chowdhury. He hailed from Bashpadua village under Parshuram upazila in Feni.
The incident took place at BGB-39 Battalion Camp at Khagdahar area at around 9pm.
Earlier on Friday night, Sohrab posted a status on his Facebook timeline expressing frustration in life.
Kotwali Model Police Station OC Shah Kamal Akand confirmed the matter on Saturday morning.
He said being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue.
According to primary investigation, Sohrab might killed himself by his gun, the OC added.
