CHITTAGONG: Offloading imports from ships at outer-anchorage of Chittagong seaport was suspended Friday as the Bay of Bengal remained rough amid inclement weather.

Executive director of Bangladesh Water Transport Coordination Cell Nizam Uddin told BanglaNews24.com.bd that though the Chittagong Port Authority permitted, the fleet of 35 lighter ships could not load goods from mother vessels at the outer-anchorage from 1:30pm as “the sea got rough”.

Meanwhile, maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox`s Bazar and Mongla have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal No 3, said a Met Office special bulletin issued Friday.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the north Bay have been advised to “come closer to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice”.
