A Dhaka court on Wednesday (Oct 6) placed Nusrat Shahreen Raka, sister of controversial expatriate journalist Kanak Sarwar, on a 5-day remand in two cases filed under Digital Security and Narcotics Control Act.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate passed the order after police had produced her before the court with a 14-day remand plea.

Members of Rab-1 arrested Raka, 38, wife of Nasir Uddin Majumder, in the city’s Uttara area on early Tuesday on charge of spreading anti-state propaganda. 

RAB members seized a mobile phone set with anti-state contents, a passport, and some Ice or Crystal Meth from her possession during the arrest.
