Mohib Ullah murder: Three more accused on 3-day remand

A Cox’s Bazar court has placed three more accused on a three-day remand in the case filed over the murder of Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah at a refugee camp in Ukhiya.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah passed the order after hearing the police’s remand plea on Wednesday morning.

The remanded are -- Ziaur Rahman, 25, Mohammad Salam, 32, and Md Ilias, 28. All residents of different Rohingya camps at Kutupalong.

Earlier, Ukhiya police station Sub Inspector Kartik Chandra, the investigating officer of the murder case, applied for a seven-day remand in court for quizzing the three arrestees.

Earlier on Sunday, the same court remanded two other suspects - Mohammad Selim Prakash alias Lamba Selim and Shawkat Ullah – for three days. So far, these five people have been arrested and remanded in this murder case.

Mohib Ullah, chairman of the Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights (ARSPH), was shot dead at a Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar by unidentified assailants at around 8pm on Wednesday.

On Thursday night, his brother Habib Ullah filed a murder case with Ukhiya police, accusing unidentified people.
