The country reported 188 fresh dengue cases in last 24 hours till Saturday morning, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With these, 18,550 people have been hospitalised with dengue across the country since January, said Health Emergency Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services.

In the 24 hours, 158 dengue patients were hospitalised in Dhaka and 30 other people in other places across the country, said the DGHS release.

Besides, the Aedes mosquito-borne viral disease has claimed the lives of 68 people. Of them, 63 were from the capital city, two each from Chattogram and Khulna divisions and one from Rajshahi division.

On Saturday, 1,004 dengue patients, including 794 in 46 government and private hospitals in the capital, were undergoing treatment in health facilities across the country.

Meanwhile, 17,478 patients returned home after recovery from dengue infection since January.
