The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 79 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital city over the past 24 hours till 6:00 am Saturday (Oct 2).

Detectives and the law enforcers jointly made the arrest and seized illegal drugs from their possession.

The DMP seized 31,045 pieces of sedative yaba tablets, 109 grams of heroin, two bottles of phensedyl, 2.5 litres of local liquor, 15.860 kg of cannabis and 12 ampuls injection with 1.2 kg of ice from them.

DMP's Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Iftekhairul Islam has confirmed the news.

Based on information, members of Detectives and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a 24-hour long raid and detained the drug trades from various places, he said.

A total of 53 cases have been filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act, the DMP official added.
