HC rejects writ against phone eavesdropping

The High Court (HC) rejected a writ petition filed seeking its directive to stop eavesdropping on phone and leaking private phone conversations.

The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order as it had earlier heard arguments on the petition.

Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir moved the plea before the court while Deputy Attorney General Bipul Bagmar stood for the state.

Barrister Khandaker Reza-E-Rakib took part in the hearing on behalf of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

On behalf of 10 lawyers of the Supreme Court, Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir filed the writ petition with the HC as a public interest litigation on August 10 this year.
