Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd (SRKCL), the leading sports club in the country, distributed relief items among ultra-poor and unemployed people in Manikganj for the third consecutive day on Tuesday.

Under the guidance and financial support of Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd Chairman and Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir, the relief was disbursed at Aftab Uddin Memorial High School compound at Bandutia under Manikganj Sadar.

SRKCL arranged the relief distribution programme in Manikganj, marking the ‘National Mourning Day’ commemorating the martyrdoms of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members.

A number of 1,500 people received the relief packet bearing 10kg rice, 3kg lentil and 3kg flour each on behalf of their families. In three days, 6,000 people have received relief.

Earlier, the relief was distributed among 3,000 people at Shaheed Miraj-Tapan Stadium in Manikganj on Sunday and 1,500 people at Golam Mohiuddin Kamal Adarsh High School premises in Harirampur upazila on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Jubo League presidium member and SRKCL Director Dr Sajjad Haider said “Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd continues with relief distribution across the country. As part of the scheme, the club distributed food items among river erosion and corona-hit people in Manikganj. Such effort will continue in the days to come.”

Manikganj district Awami League president advocate Golam Mohiuddin, Dilara Mostafa Autistic School headmaster Sharmin Sultana, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra permanent members Aminul Islam and Md Maruf Kazi, district Awami League organising secretary Tayebur Rahman Tipu, District Chhatra League president Rafikul Islam Rana and Jubo League leader Firoz Alam Khan were present.

The programme was moderated by Manikganj district Jubo League joint convenor Mahbubur Rahman Jony.
