Sixteen people died at the Covid units of three Khulna hospitals in the last 24 hours till Thursday (July 29) morning as the country continues to reel from a devastating second wave of the pandemic.

Of them, seven died at Khulna Corona Dedicated Hospital, three at Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser Hospital, one in the Covid unit of Khulna General Hospital and five at Gazi Medical College Hospital, according to the officials.

Dr Suhas Ranjan Halder, resident medical officer of KMCH and Gazi Mizanur Rahman, owner of Gazi Medical College Hospital, Dr Kazi Abu Rashed, spokesman in Khulna General Hospital Corona unit, and Dr Prakash Debnath, focal person of Shaheed Sheikh Abu Nasser Specialized Hospital, individually confirmed the matter.
