Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam has fined Tk 10 lakh to Gabtoli cattle market leaseholder for not maintaining coronavirus health guidelines.

While visiting the cattle hut on Monday (July 19), the DNCC mayor experienced the mismanagement of the haat. Then he ordered the magistrate to fine Tk 10 lakh to the leaseholder, halting the sale for an hour.

Mayor Atiqul said legal action will be taken against leaseholders if this type of mismanagement found at any cattle market.

He asked the leaseholder to operate haat activities following the health rules properly, otherwise the market will be closed.

Senior officials of the DNCC were present while Atiqul Islam was vising the cattle market.
