Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two persons for making adulterated diesel, mobil and bitumen by refining illegally used mobil at Rajendrapur in Chauddagram of Cumilla.

The detainees are - Abdul Mannan,48, son of Md Alam Miah of Gunobati village of Chauddagram upazila and Forkan Mahmud (23), son of Mohammad Mostafa Mia of Nangalkot upazila of the district.

Later, a mobile court sentenced Abdul Mannan to one year and Forkan Mahmud to six months in prison.

The RAB-11, CPC-2 Company Commander Major Talukder Nazmush Shakib disclosed the information in a press release on Wednesday afternoon.

He said the RAB members conducted a special drive at an organisation called Messrs Alam & Company in Rajendrapur area of Chauddagram from Tuesday afternoon to night. Later, the elite force arrested two people on charges of making and marketing unauthorised and counterfeit and adulterated diesel, mobil and bitumen. At that time, Executive Magistrate SM Manjurul Haque sentenced them to imprisonment through a mobile court.

Major Nazmush Shakib further said that the company had been producing and marketing counterfeit and adulterated diesel and mobil by using old mobil, bleaching powder and sulfuric acid for a long time. Moreover, it had been selling refining waste of mobil as bitumen to unscrupulous contractors.
