HT Imam laid to eternal rest at Banani graveyard

Prime Minister’s Political Adviser HT Imam, who breathed his last in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 82, was laid to eternal rest with state honour at the Banani graveyard in the city.

The Dhaka district administration offered guard of honor to him at the graveyard before his burial.

Earlier, the second namaz-e-janaza of HT Imam was held at Gulshan Azad Masjid after Asr prayers.

Earlier, the body of HT Imam was taken to Ullapara upazila in Sirajganj by a helicopter at 9.30am. His first namaz-e-janaza of HT Imam was held at Akbar Ali Government College ground at Ullapara.

Then the body was then brought back to Dhaka by the same copter and kept at the Central Shaheed Minar from 12.30pm to 3.30pm.

People from all walks of life paid homage to him at the Central Shaheed Minar.

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif and advisory council member Mukul Bose, among others, paid their respects on behalf of the party.

People of different cultural, political organizations including Awami League, Chhatra League, Jubo League, Krishak League, Mohila Awami League, Jubo Mohila League, Swechchhasebak League and Sramik League paid homage to HT Imam.

HT Imam died in the early hours of Thursday at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka. He was 82.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of HT Imam.
