A sub-inspector of Gazipur industrial police was killed and a constable was injured after a covered-van hit their motorcycle in Mogarkhal area under Basan police station in Gazipur City Corporation on Saturday evening.
 
The deceased were identified as Saifur Rahman, 48, son of Lutfur Rahman from Kristapur village under Thakurgaon sadar upazila. 

Basan police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Shafiul Alam told Banglanews: "The accident took place when Saifur was travelling to Mogarkhal industrial police line on a motorbike with a constable Tuhin. Both were injured after the covered-van hit the bike."

Locals rescued the due to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College and Hospital where on-duty physician declared Saifur dead on arrival. Constable Tuhin is undergoing treatment at the hospital, he said. 

The covered-van was seized and its driver and helper were detained following the accident. Legal action is being taken in this regard, the SI added.
