Two 'robbers' lynched in Narsingdi

Angry mob lynched two suspected robbers at Murgiber Bazar area under Shibpur upazila in Narsingdi on Tuesday night.

One of the deceased was identified as Sohel, 30, son of Aminul Islam of Kuliarchar upazila of Kishoreganj, while the identity of the other could not be known immediately.

Abul Kalam, officer-in-charge of Shibpur police station, confirmed the matter. 

He said a group of 10 to 15 robbers conducted a robbery attempt on the houses of Borhan, Golzar and Kanchan at Murgiber village around 3:00am. As the robbers tried to break in the doors, the occupants of houses made phone calls to neighbours seeking assistance. 

Locals gathered quickly and managed to catch three of robbers while the others fled the scene. Two of them died after enduring heave beating from angry villagers and another one was injured, he said.

"On Information, police from Shibpur station rushed to the spot. Two bodies were recovered and sent to Narsingdi sadar hospital morgue. Another robber suspect Manik was rescued in critically injured condition," said Kalam.

Of the deceased, Sohel was facing a total of five cases filed over murder, women repression, robbery, possessing firearms, the OC added.
