A total of 68 police personnel of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) were found positive in dope tests. 

Of them, 18 have been temporarily suspended while 10 were sacked.

Moreover, divisional cases were filed against 43 cops over the failure in the test while departmental disciplinary action is being taken against 25 people.

In addition, 29 DMP cops have been found involved in drug dealing, drug use, and other drug related crimes. Of them, six faced punitive action while one was sacked.

Md Walid Hossain, deputy commissioner of DMP's Media and Public Relations department, confirmed the matter to media.     

According to DMP headquarters, 68 cops found positive in consecutive dope test. All of them will face action. The dope testing is being conducted with an aimed to identify the police personnel who are involved in drug addiction and dealing, and actions will be taken against them to implement the government's zero tolerance policy against drug.

Of the 68 cops, seven are sub-inspectors, one surgent, five assistant sub-inspectors, 5 nayeks and 50 constables.
