Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam on Saturday said process of dismissing 26 police personnel got underway as they found positive in dope tests.

He said: "We have carried out dope tests on suspected police members. A total of 26 were found to be positive among them. The process of dismissing them has started." 

DMP Commissioner made the disclosure while inaugurating the office of the newly formed Mirpur Traffic Division.

Drug tests were mandatory in the police recruitment process last year, said police officials.

All unit chiefs of police have the authority to perform dope tests on any policeman who behaves like a drug addict or has specific allegations against them.
