Sinha murder: 7 accused in RAB custody for questioning Army Major (Retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has taken seven accused - four policemen and three civilians who were placed on a seven-day remand by a Cox’s Bazar court on August 12- in their custody for interrogation in the Army Major (retd) Sinha murder case.

They were taken from the Cox’s Bazar district jail by a RAB team around 10:15 am on Friday, said Mokammel Hosen, superintendent of the jail.

The accused members of police are - Assistant Sub-inspector Md Liton Mia, Constables Safarun Karim, Kamal Hosen and Abdullah Al Mamun.

The other three are witnesses of the two cases filed by police with Taknaf Police Station following the incident. 

They are- Nurul Amin, Nijam Uddin and Md Ayachh Uddin. They were arrested by RAB in Teknaf on Tuesday.

Seven policemen, including ex-Teknaf officer-in-charge Pradeep Kumar and prime accused Inspector Liaqat Ali, who shot Sinha dead, have already been arrested in connection with the murder case.

Other policemen arrested in the case are: SI Nandadulal, ASI Liton Miah and constables Kamal Hossain, Abdullah Al Mamun and Safanur Karim. All seven policemen were suspended later.

Major (retd) Sinha was killed in a police firing at Baharchhara police check-post on July 31. 

Later on August 5, Sharmen Shahria Ferdush, elder sister of Sinha, filed the murder case with Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Court accusing nine police personnel.
