UK warns citizens to travel Bangladesh

DHAKA: The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) of UK once again advised its citizens to remain vigilant and take appropriate security precautions during travelling across Bangladesh.

A British government site published the notice after some days of two foreign nationals’ murder in the country.

The notice put emphasis on taking particular care where there are large gatherings, political offices and rallies.

Mentioning that the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has claimed responsibility for the recent murders of two foreign nationals, it said, “Further attacks targeting westerners may occur and could be indiscriminate”.

The British government asked its citizens to “Keep a low profile in all public spaces and limit your attendance at events where westerners may gather, for example in hotels or conference centres”.

The website, however, also published that up to 75,000 British nationals visit Bangladesh every year and most visits are trouble free.
