DHAKA: Holy month of Ramadan will begin in Bangladesh on Thursday as the moon was not sighted on Wednesday evening.
The National Moon Sighting Committee sat this evening to fix the beginning date of the holy Arabic month of Ramadan – the month of fasting.
The meeting was held at the conference room of Islamic Foundation in the national mosque Baitul Mukarram at 7:30pm.
Religious Affairs Minister, also president of the committee, Principal Motiur Rahman chaired the meeting.
People were also requested to inform the Islamic Foundation over telephone or fax if the new moon sighted anywhere in the country’s sky.
