DHAKA: The deposition of blogger and one of ‘Ganajagaran Mancha’ organizers Ahmed Rajib Haider murder case deferred till May 21.
Dhaka speedy trial tribunal-1 acting Judge Shahed Nuruddin passed the order as the judge of the tribunal is in a vacation.
The first witness of the case and also Rajib’s father Dr Nazim Uddin was present to give his statement but retuned as the date deferred.
However, defendant’s lawyer Masud Ahmed Talukdar was present in the court.
Earlier on March 18, the court of Fourth Additional Metropolitan Session Judge Ruhul Amin framed charges against eight people, including Ansarullah Bangla Team chief Mufti Mohammad Jasimuddin Rahmani.
The other accused are North South University students Mohammad Faisal Bin Nayeem Dip of Chowdhurypara, Yasir Mahmud of Kalabagan and Maqsudul Hasan Anik of Keraniganj of Dhaka, Mohammad Ehsan Reza Rumman of Jhenaidah, Nayeem Irad of Brahmanbaria, Nafiz Imtiaj of Chittagong and Redwanul Azad Rana of Feni.
They all were students of electrical and electric and electrical and telecommunication departments of NSU.
According to the charge-sheet, the students were influenced by reading the books and listening to the speeches of Jasimuddin Rahmani. They consequently were inspired to kill ‘atheist’ Rajib.
Jasimuddin has been indicted as the instigator of the killing.
Blogger and also an architect Ahmed Rajib Haider was chopped to death in front of his house in city’s Mirpur area on February 15 in 2013.
