ICT asks for monitoring cell to nab accused

DHAKA: International Crimes Tribunal-1 Wednesday ordered the government to form monitoring cell to monitor the arrest of accused in cases for crimes against humanity.

Three-member tribunal, headed by Justice Enayetur Rahim, passed the suo-moto order.

The order will be eligible for all convicted and under trial fugitive accused in the cases for wartime crimes.

The committee of monitoring cell will be formed with the representatives from Detective Branch of police, Special Branch of police, Rapid Action Battalion and investigation agency of the war crimes tribunal.

It also ordered that the cell will be headed by not below the rank of deputy inspector general of police, the order said.

The tribunal also asked authorities concerned to submit progress report after each 40 days before it.
