Bangladeshi shot dead in Lebanon

BRAHMANBARIA: A Bangladeshi expatriate was allegedly gunned down by political rivals in Beirut, capital city of Lebanon, over forming committee for the local unit of Awami League (AL) there.

The victim was identified as Sazib Shikdar, 23, son of Shamshu Shikdar of Harashpur village under Bijoynagar upazila of the district.

Victim’s uncle M Amir Hossain, vice chairman of Ashuganj Upazila of the district, confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Hossain said that Sajib was involved in AL’s politics. His rivals killed him around 9:00pm on Sunday local time centering the formation of a local AL unit committee.

Victim’s brother-in-law, who also lives in Beirut, informed the family members over mobile phone in Monday afternoon, Hossain added.

However, arriving time of the body could not be known.
