BAGERHAT: A leader of a robber gang and his cohort were killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Nandabala canal in Chandpai Range of Sundarbans early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Alamgir, 35, deputy-head of ‘Mayjhya Bahini’– a forest robbing gang of Sundarbans, and cohort Ripon, 30.

The gunfight took place sometimes between 5:10am and 5:40pm.

RAB also recovered a one-shooter gun, two rifles, 10 domestic and foreign-made pistols and 100 rounds of bullets from the spot.

RAB-8 commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Faridul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
