DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday awarded a man to death for killing a 7-year-old boy, Tanmoy, after abduction from city’s Mirpur area.

Judge of Dhaka Women and Children Repression prevention Tribunal-5 Tanzina Ismail passed the order.

The convict, Jahirul, was in the dock while the verdict was read out and later, taken to the jail.

Jahirul kidnapped Tanmoy on March 26 in 2012. However, Tanmoy’s father filed a case with Mirpur Thana on the day.

Jahirul demanded Tk 8 lakh through mobile phone around 12:00 pm and tracking the phone call, the law enforcers arrested Jahirul from his rented flat and recovered the body of Tanmoy.
