DHAKA: Cultural diversity has been showcased at Bangladesh embassy in Washington DC on Saturday with the participation of 40 foreign embassies.
Besides, visitors from all over the USA, including thousands of enthusiastic foreigners and tourists, joined the daylong ‘Open House’ program organized in collaboration with Cultural Tourism DC, a Washington-based non-profit organization.
The cultural program, for the eighth consecutive year, was organized in the Bangabandhu auditorium of the chancery building.
The ‘Open House’ program featured the display of Bangladesh handcrafts, its tourism destinations, historical places and cultural show.
The Bangladesh embassy availed the opportunity of exhibiting the country’s rich cultural heritage as well as Bangladesh’s contribution to peacekeeping missions under the United Nations at the ‘Open House’ program from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
According to a press release issued by Bangladesh embassy in Washington, the visitors showed keen interest in the display of three-wheeler ‘Rickshaw’, a popular mode of transport in Bangladesh, and enjoyed traditional Bangladeshi cuisine.
The US Department of State announced the event as International Cultural Awareness month in honor of Cultural Tourism DC’s ‘Passport DC’ in May.
Bangladesh ambassador to the USA and the embassy officials welcomed the guests.
