BHOLA: The 24 fishermen, who went missing as a fishing trawler capsized in the Meghna River in Manpura Upazila of the district on Thursday, were rescued from Bandartila, a char of the river in Hatia Upazila of Noakhali on Friday.
They were drifting in the river with Buoys, drams and woods for 40 hours after the accident, Mobarrak, majhi of the trawler informed the matter to his relatives over phone.
Later, they reached the char and on information, a team of coast guard rushed to the spot and taken the fishermen to hospital, said Mujaheed, operation officer of Coast Guard’s Bhola South Zone.
Mobarrak, majhi of the trawler named FB Allah-Malik, confirmed the matter to Abul Bashar, president of Kutubdia Fishermen Association over mobile phone.
Abul Bashar also confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Earlier on Thursday, some 24 fishermen had gone missing as a fishing trawler capsized in the Meghna River adjacent to Dhalchar of Manpura Upazila of the district.
