DHAKA: After lingering for few times, Captain Tasbirul Ahmed Choudhury, founder chairman and MD of United Airways, appeared before Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Thursday.
ACC Deputy Director Meer M Joynul Abedin Shibli started quizzing him at 3:15pm at ACC office over allegations of being involved in money laundering.
ACC sources said Tasbirul is accused of purchasing aircrafts with a much higher price than the international market.
He allegedly hauled Tk 450 crore from the stock market and purchased a 20-year old airplane.
United Airways authorities violated conventional rules by purchasing the airplane without any tender as the board of directors solely took this decision.
A three-member graft body of ACC, led by Jaynul Abedin Shibly, is investigating the complaint. They sent several notices but Tasbirul did not appear before ACC.
