DHAKA: A woman died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) early Tuesday and her husband and two daughters were injured as miscreants stormed their house in city’s Mohammadpur area on Monday night, setting fire at the house and beating them with metallic stuff.

The deceased was identified as Krishna Kaberi Mandalm 34, wife of Shitangshu Shekhar Biswas, an assistant director of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA). Identities of the daughters could not be known.

Modhammadpur Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Azizul Haque confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The OC said that a group of miscreants entered their house around 10:00pm, beat them and set home appliances to fire, leaving them injured. Of them, Krisna suffered burn injuries.

Neighbors rescued them and took them to DMCH, where the women succumbed to her injuries around 3:00am Tuesday.

Krishna sustained 15 percent burns and also bore hit marks on her head and different parts of the body, the OC added.

However, the man and his two daughters are undergoing treatment at DMCH.

According to the OC, the incident might have been caused due to previous enmity.

Police are looking into the matter, he added.
