BHOLA: Some 24 fishermen had gone missing as a fishing trawler capsized in the Meghna River adjacent to Dhalchar of Manpura Upazila of the district on Thursday evening.

Confirming the matter, Coastguard South Zone lieutenant Jahangir Alam told banglanews that being informed, a team of coast guard was on way to the spot to rescue the missing fishermen.

Dhalchar fish wholesaler Nannu Matabber said the trawler, carrying the 24 fishermen, came to the Meghna River in Dhalchar area from Kutubdia of Chittagong to catch fish but it turned turtle around 6:00pm due to strong wind.

 The overturned-trawler has been seen floating in the river, he added.
