DHAKA: A schoolboy was burnt as a group of miscreants set fire to a passenger bus in city’s New Market area on Wednesday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as Mehedi Hasan, son of Mohammad Hasan Iqbal and a resident of Dhakaeshwari area. He is a student of class nine at Bangladesh-German Technical School in Mirpur.

However, Mehedi is undergoing medical treatment at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Sources said that blockaders set fire to a bus of ‘Bihanga Paribahan’ plying on Mirpur-Azimpur route.

Confirming the incident, Fire Service headquarters operator Ziaur Rahman told banglanews that two units of fire fighters from Plassey area rushed to the spot and doused the fire.
